A Community Coalition to Prevent Sexual Violence

This video features our community coalition which is working toward the primary prevention of sexual violence. The community coalition is based upon a "public health primary prevention model". Focusing on primary community prevention allows us to change the community norms that accept the committing of sexual violence. The general public does not recognize that it can be prevented. The community coalition educates, changes organizational and public policies, and engages in inter-organizational efforts to unify the community for prevention. Coalition memberships include law enforcement, community educators, public health officials, county government officials, organizations who respond to sexual violence, and interested community members. This formal coalition model has allowed us to outreach and work with over 70 community entities in the effort of preventing sexual violence.
